Sometimes when copying from one staff to another - in this case from the flute staff to violin 1 - the velocity of the pasted note levels are 0, that is barely visible in the Velocity section of the Key editor. I can hear the notes so they are most likely played back correctly, but still…
This is curious, and off the top of my head I’m not sure what might cause it. If you e.g. select those pasted notes and repitch them, say, up and down a step, do they still show these low values in the Velocity editor? What if you save, close and reopen the project?
Until Dorico has recalculated the playback information for the pasted music, it won’t know what velocities will be played; however, I would expect this to happen when you paste, and a quick test here doesn’t reproduce the problem. I wonder whether maybe a specific combination of expression maps might be required to reproduce it.
Could be the reason. I’ve got different expression maps, a custom for the flute and a VSL map for the rest.
So what I’m thinking is, if one uses velocity for dynamics and the other cc11 (just an example) It might be not so much cut and paste but an interpretation on the dynamics in the score that you see? I’m just thinking you might confirm which lanes are actually being shown for each instr - and I know nothing, except I get glimpses into how not so simple Doricos task’s actually are for “it should be simple” sometimes.
The secondary dynamics differ. CC1 for VSL and CC11 for my custom one. I need to check further about the lanes.
