Verse numbers in tablature too big but show correct size in normal music notation

When I change the music to only show guitar tablature, the verse numbers are in a larger font than the subsequent lyrics. They go back to the correct size when I change the notation to music or music with tab. The problem seems to be only when I show only tab. I have the latest version of Dorico so this looks like a bug. I would appreciate some advice.

I can reproduce that.
You could try to set the font size to “absolute” instead of “Staff-relative”.
Paragraph Styles > Lyrics (Verse Numbers)

Or you can simply reduce it, if you’re only using the tablature.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but it had no effect. I also changed the font, which also made no difference. I think I must be missing something as even if I only show normal music notation any changes made to Paragraph Styles > Lyrics (Verse Numbers) are not reflected in the score. I have checked another score and the same also applies there. In the Engraving Options dialogue box, I have set the paragraph styles for verse numbers as the ‘same as following lyric’, which is what I want.

That’s why, I’d say. Since the Lyrics (verse number) font doesn’t behave like the Lyrics font in tablatures, it looks like you cannot have verse numbers looking correct if you use the same paragraph style (but I’m maybe missing something!)

Or, you can keep your Engraving Option and set the Lyrics font size to “Absolute” (if it’s not a problem elsewhere):

Edit: I just checked in Dorico 5, and it’s the same.

Thanks, the problem has now been fixed. In Engraving Options, I changed the the option to ‘default paragraph style’ from the ‘same as following lyric’. I then followed your advice and from within ‘Paragraph Styles’ changed the font size to ‘absolute’. I then reduced the font size until it looked about the same font size as the following lyrics on the score. Perhaps I would need to also change the lyric font size to ‘absolute’ to get an exact match.

This does indeed look like a bug - we’ll take a look.
