You are in a project zone. It’s a long one. Imagine if you could select say 32 bars and just hide them, replacing them with a slim vertical line as a place holder. You get to select how many bars are (temporarily) invisible. As a tooltip or something, if you hover over the vertical bar and it reveals the number “32”. If you click on the bar, the whole 32 bars are restored. You can select whether to "play through, or “skip bars”.
So much unecessary clutter can be hidden this way. You can focus.
