Vertical lines trouble in percussion kit

I finally succeeded to use my graphic symbol, thanks Daniel!

then I found a new problem, it seems that vertical lines do not display in the percussion kit 5 lines staff, while it displays correctly in the same project on ordinary singer / instrument staves. The horizontal line feature works …

If you set the Playback Template to Silent, would that reduce the file size enough to attach it?

OK the file is effectively reduced, attached

You can’t currently create vertical lines on percussion kits, for boring technical reasons. We hope to be able to improve this in future.

Hi - has this issue been addressed?

I’m trying to add a vertical line (ie. a bracket) on either side of this percussion line. Any suggestions?

Many thanks

You could use a zero-size line with brackets as start cap and end cap.

+1 vote to add the ability to create vertical lines on percussion kits. The common use case is annotating specific drum/percussion parts that are not part of standard notation. This is common in musical theater drum parts, which often include a lot of percussion instruments assigned to the drum kit player (see example below).

You can use a horizontal arrow for that…

Ah, thanks @Janus that’s helpful!

Seems like the only way to get this to work is to make both end-points attached to a rhythmic position, then make manual Engraving adjustments in the score and parts to get it to line up correctly? If I make either end note-attached then Dorico seems to refuse to create the line. Is that your understanding as well?

Yes, manual engraving adjustments. You can attach the RH end to the note and the LH to somewhere in the previous bar.

(I’m sure some clever person could also tell you how to attach the boxed text to the start of the line!)
