Vertical spacing adjustments should be tied to flow page number, not project page number

I often work in MT, and so I frequently need to make vertical spacing adjustments to accommodate text labels in scores (character names, dialog, cues, etc). As far as I can tell, all vertical spacing adjustments are tied to the overall page number within the project, rather than relative to each flow.

For example:
If I have 3 flows of 5 pages each, and I make an adjustment on page 8 (i.e. page 3 of Flow 2), then Dorico treats this adjustment as on “Page 8 of project” rather than “Page 3 of Flow 2”.

This has some unfortunate consequences, including:

  • If any flow changes page length (i.e. Flow 1 grows or shrinks in pages), all subsequent vertical spacing adjustments are now wrong and need to be manually fixed
  • If any flow changes order (e.g. I drag flow 1 to become the new Flow 3), now all vertical spacing adjustments are wrong and need to be manually fixed
  • If I add a flow anywhere within the project, same thing, all subsequent vertical spacing needs to be manually fixed

Please to tell me if I’m missing something, but it seems like it would be way more useful to have the adjustments be relative to each flow, which would solve all of the above issues.

Thanks, as always!

I was just about to pop in and make a post about exactly the same thing. +1 on the feature request for vertical spacing tied to flow page number not project page number. In order to accommodate large blocks of dialog text over the staves for musical theater scores, I frequently have to make vertical staff spacing changes, and I learned the hard way after realizing one flow was in the wrong order that the vertical spacing adjustments wouldn’t move with my flows.
