Vertical spacing between different verses is an engraving option. This has a drawback: You cannot change the spacing in different layouts.
Attached is a sample of an old German hymn. In order to fit the whole song on two pages for the piano player I moved the lyric line as close as possible. For the singers I wanted to make use of the available space and make it easier finding to correct line. Thus I enlarged the spacing, see PDF.

Bottom line: It would be great if some of the positioning options for lyrics would move to layout options instead of being engraving options.
