Very annoying! New PC / Cubase 15 -> Asio driver (cannot hear anything in project)

I know that there’s often no real other choice, but folks shouldn’t be asking any AI model about things as esoteric as audio tuning on a PC. It’s almost always wrong, as we see time and again here. I have yet to see any 100% correct answers, and I’ve seen many that send you down a rabbit hole that results in a craptastic experience on your PC later.

A lot of the data those are trained on is XP-era “tweak” information that is still on the internet.

yes I tried USB 2.0 and much better now…or maybe even perfect, not tested all situations yet. will also install “virtual desktop” again to check if it works

in my case: MSI Center in Autostart was a massive problem, also if it runs somewhere in the background. i did not de-install it coz i like it. but cannot be open while using Cubase.

just dont know yet if i should activate Asio Guard or not, or which level.

in some Kontakt libraries when switching a sound i get very short crack.
but that might me a kontakt or library thing
overall very fast performance now. but still checking! wanna be creative, not tech guy!!! like all of u i guess;)

If you’re using MSI center then disable its auto start option. Disable all possible apps from starting with the system like Steam or Spotify, etc. You may also disable Edge from starting with the system and running in the background even if not used.

You can also check motherboard manual to find the best USB port, the one which is directly connected to the CPU and don’t use it to any other device.

Just triangulating with what I’ve experienced. My own situation is still impossible to force/duplicate, and it’s still rare, but if it gets more annoying I’m just going to buy a Fresco-based USB card.

Those OEM/motherboard-specific apps always seem to wreak havoc with real-time audio. Glad you found the problem there.

yes, thanks to all.
i mean i´m sure i could improve eben bit better by:

  • de-install AMD Adrenalin software and all AMD software (except from Chipset). at least i think it could help, because MSI Center deactivation helped a lot because it monitors all sensors etc.
  • maybe by deinstalling nvidia app and install classic studio driver, not sure…
  • maybe tell RME they should improve for USB 3.2 slots so i dont have to use USB 2.0

but yeah, i reckon, in the end you can have the fastes machine. If “Analog Brass” in Kontakt 8 shows a bit “slowness” but “Analog Strings” (same producer) is 20% faster it shows that many things are still software issues anyway, so dont matter I guess…

by the way: Virtual Desktop on PC installed, works fine, was never an issue. Quest 3 ist just such an experience, highly recommend;)

I don’t know if this might help, but I had problems with no sound and latency issues. After searching the web for many hours I narrowed the problem down to my ASIO driver. I downloaded ASIO4ALL for windows 10 and 11 (final 2.15 version) which is free from the ASIO4ALL website and installed it. Restarted Windows 11, opened cubase 15 (which immediately identified the ASIO4ALL driver and asked if I wanted to use it with cubase), selected it and cubase did the rest - problems with sound and latency solved instantly. Happy days!

quick one: exporting audio mixdown is not much faster with AMD 9950x3d than my 10 years old intel i7?
why is that? software development? or is it a pure RME thing anyway while exporting?

the audio interface is not part of the export function unless you are doing it in real time due to external instruments/effects

then unfortunatley it seems a software issue, not necessarily Steinberg but for example Ozone 11.

exports are maybe bit faster but not much. one of fastest CPU on the markets right now, hm…

It usually is down to the plugin. If I put firetheclip clipper on my master bus and use a high oversampling setting it takes minutes to complete. Without it it takes seconds. Go through what you use and you will find what is taking the time.
