Very odd behavior Delay in moving a note up or down in key editor using Keyboard

I’m wondering if anyone else is seeing this on macOS 26.2 with Cubase 15 Pro.

Hardware

  • MacBook Air (M4, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD) — same issue

  • MacBook Pro (M3 Pro, 18GB RAM, 1TB SSD) — same issue

Both machines are very fast and essentially “clean” systems (Cubase is the main workload).

Issue (MIDI Key Editor)

In the MIDI Key Editor, when I select a note and try to move it up/down using the arrow keys:

  • The first up/down movement has a large delay (around 3–4 seconds) before the note actually shifts pitch.

  • After that, if I use the left/right arrow keys (or continue moving after the first lag), everything responds instantly.

  • But if I click a note again with the mouse, and then press up/down, the delay returns (sometimes smaller, but still noticeable).

So it seems like the first up/down pitch move after a mouse selection triggers a lag, while subsequent edits are immediate.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a setting/workaround?

No one with the Mac experiencing this???

A friend of mine encountered the same issue. M4 MBA 13’ & M5 MBP 14’, On macOS 26 Tahoe only, no issue with M4 MBA 13’ macOS 15 Sequoia.

Thank you for reading and thank you for replying…
So MacOs issue, not cubase…. hummm hope someone apple/steinberg can fix it, it’s is very annoying.

I have an M5 MacBook Pro 14 inch running macOS 26.3 and Cubase 15.0.10. There is a noticeable delay when moving a note up or down with arrow keys after clicking a note, but no delay when moving notes by dragging a selection box. My friend’s M2 Max 16 inch, also running macOS 26.3, doesn’t seem to have this issue.

Ever since I upgraded to Mac OS 26.4 this has improved significantly, cubase 15.0.10 but I just started playing with the new OS update, will update this thread if I see any major issues with it.
Try 26.4…

just updated the Cubase to 15.0.20 and the delay is back, it was significantly less with the older version 15.0.10. Another observation if the project is bigger and the P-cores are active, there is no delay….
