Very strange Audio issue with Cubase 13.0.1

Been using Cubase 13 Pro with no problems until today. Whenever CB13 is started all audio (Cubase and System audio, i.e. Spotify, Desktop, etc.) begins to sound like it has a slapback on it.

I am on a Mac Studio Pro with 128GB RAM, Sonoma OS and an Apollo x6.

I’ve disabled program preferences, deactivated all third party plugins, created a new file with just one instrument with the same result. When I quit CB, the audio issue continues. The only way to get rid of the issue is to restart the computer. It’s like CB triggers something when it starts up. I’ve had to revert to CB12 because they doesn’t seem to be any solution.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Not a Mac guy, so…

Might it be a direct monitoring issue in your Audio Interface?

Unfortunately, that’s not it…wish it was as it would be an easy fix. What’s strange is that it doesn’t happen until CB13 is started and then when quitting, it still continues. Cubase is starting something and I can’t figure it out.

I appreciate the suggestion!

Not in front of a Mac right now to get exact info… but there are two things that come to mind.

1st, in Sonoma there’s a new feature that has to do with mic permissions. If I recall correctly, it’s an orange button and should be near the date/time (upper right corner by default in macOS). If you see don’t see the button, disregard

2nd, system sounds and Cubase might be sharing the same audio setup. In macOS ‘Audio MIDI Setup’ settings, I set my system sounds and notifications to use the builtin speakers on my Mac (this would include web browsers). I set my Audio Interface up separately as the main Input for mics and DI instruments. You have to right click on the ‘Device’ to change what gets played using it.
Other items will show up among the different Device options… such as displays with builtin speakers.

It sounds like maybe you’ve somehow got multiple outputs playing your audio and they’re not in sync. Hopefully one of those 2 areas will help

It sounds like your MacOS mic mode might be set to voice isolation. It should be set to standard.

Unfortunately, no…set to standard. It only happens with CB13. I’ve reverted to CB12 with no problems so it’s definitely something going on within the program.

That sounds completely baffling - Cubase 13 setting something in your system that endures after it’s closed. Could it be something C13 is changing in UAD Console? Do you use Control Room in Cubase?

Steve.

I believe I’m experiencing the same problem, Rob.

Did anyone find a solution, i have this and its ongoing.
