Video not stretching after project tempo change

I’m trying to transcribe drums from a video file and I often need to decrease the tempo to be able to make out very fast fills. However, whenever I change the original tempo from 150bpm to 80bpm, the audio slows down, but the video stays at the same. I’d like to have the video playback speed match the tempo of the project, which I’ll change depending on how slow I need to transcribe certain sections. Here’s how I’m attempting currently. Any advice is appreciated. If this isn’t possible, do let me know.

  1. Import video to empty cubase project
  2. Project → Tempo Detection → Analyze
  3. Adjust as necessary.
  4. Audio → Advanced → Set Definition From Tempo.

At this point the audio can now be stretched after changing bpm from 150 to 70bpm, and the metronome is in sync with the audio.

However, when doing this, the video doesn’t stretch. I’d like to have it stretch alongside the audio so I can pinpoint every drum instrument hit while transcribing.

I’ve uploaded my project. But the video is too big to be uploaded here. So here’s the dropbox link to it instead:

It is not possible. And it is not wanted either. Please use a video editing software for this.

I want it. Please speak for yourself and simply say “it is not possible.” Thank you

I am sorry if my answer wasn’t clear. The “it is not possible” part was not an opinion but the answer to your question whether this is possible in the current version of Cubase.

The “it is not wanted” part was my opinion, however. You did not mark your topic as a feature-request, so I felt free to speak my mind. Kindly ignore it if you don’t like it.

The “use video editing software” was a suggestion. As you currently can’t achieve a tempo change of the video in Cubase I suggested a way to achieve outside of Cubase.

Hope, that helps a bit more.

Reaper does this well. Will use this for the time being
