Hey All. I am using the video work around for importing audio. I have everything lined up correctly with specifics. The video will play for 1 minute or more and then just stop; even with more measures left. I have checked all the settings many times. I desperately need to import a rhythm recording into Dorico to orchestrate. Sibelius has the same issue. Finale was the only one who could do it. Really want to move to Dorico. I wish there was a fix.
Hi @Keith_McMinn, can you provide the audio file used (if too big, then a link) ? Describing the steps you do.
Hey Christian! Thanks for connecting. Really appreciate you.
I write and record orchestras in Nashville a lot. I record a rhythm section and then bring it into Finale by importing the audio. The bpm or both the track and Finale file are identical. So when I orchestrate I can write to the groove and all the hits.
I want to be able to do this in Dorico. Right now there is not a way to import audio. You have to create a video with the audio and then attach it to a “flow.” That is what I do. I make sure the bpms are identical create a still image for the video and have the band audio. It works great for a minute or so but then the video stops.
@Keith_McMinn I suggest you upload your diagnostics here (Help>Create Diagnostics Report) so one of the team can take a look.
I saw a video some time ago about a composer who takes a Cubase sound file and captures a video of the time-counter as the track plays back. Then, when attached/imported into the Dorico file, the video of the time-counter is just one more way to keep track of the sound file.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.3 MB) here is the diagnostic report. Steinberg team can you please take a look at this and tell me why the video stops playing? @OpticIlluzhion
@danielspreadbury
hi, I’m unfortunately not from the Steinberg team, this is just an alias e-mail address that I used to keep my e-mail private. For some reason I can’t seem to set a separate forum username, so if anyone here knows how I could change it to OpticIlluzhion I would also be thankful
HI @Keith_McMinn, I tried yesterday and it works fine.
I created a long (audio) groove in Cubase, over three minutes long. Exported as video from Cubase as mpg4. Loaded the video in the Flow in Dorico (same bpm). All sounds ok, to the end of the Project, as expected.
If you upload your audio file, and/or the video file we can check if the problem is with the audio or the video that you are using.
Be sure you have enough measures to underscore the video. My recollection is that when the time runs out on the measures one has, the video stops.
Of course I haven’t worked with video in Dorico for a while now.
I have plenty of extra measures but thank you!!
it says my file is too big to upload
You can upload to a cloud service (Googledrive, Dropbox…), or to Wetransfer.com and post the link here.
Thanks! I really appreaciate you taking the time to take the screenshots, It sucks that the issue was as dumb as me not even spotting the username field in my account preferences because I assumed it would be below the e-mail field and not above it but such is life
