Once again dabbling with AI lip-sync video tech - a rather generous reimaging of myself performing the title track on my recent album:
Musically, not my cup of tea.
Lyrically, I can appreciate the sentiments (having been 65 for 6 years, now).
Technically, the vocal is just a little to low in the mix (or the piano is a little too loud), and I can’t make out all the words. (But then, I have trouble with plosives, hey ho.)
So a from me.
Thanks for giving is a listen and view! Must admit I was actually quite facinated by your comment re vocal level, I’d always felt I’d mixed it just a bit too loud! I guess it goes to highlight a persistent challenge we face when trying to creat a mix that works for different ears in different listening environments!
Raw and Honest. Has a Peter Gabriel vibe which I really like.
On a pair of middle cheap laptop speakers and for my ears/brain the vocals are not blocked by the piano at all. My issue was that the backing vocals were not tight, that made some passages hard to understand.
Then again, most of the time I don’t even try to understand all of English lyrics in a song. Not my language. Usuallly I just pick up a snippet here and there. I rather listen to the sound.
All in all I liked it.
Thanks Jonathan. I was actually thinking about taking Leonard Cohen -ish approach when I was putting this one together, but yeah, I can see why PG came to mind.
Thanks for your feedback, and… you’re absolutely right, the backing voice is out in places! I couldn’t understand why, as an earlier mix of the track posted elsewhere is fine. So, I went back into the project and sure enough something got messed up with the backing vocal parts - so the audio used in this video will have to be replaced. I’ve just spent half an hour fixing up the BV. Which now means… I’ll have to re-render the video with the fixed audio. DOH!
