I don’t know why “:6473” is automatically displayed after 127.0.0.1. Perhaps that’s that’s related to the issue I’m having. I tried some renaming to get VE Pro 7 and 8 to co-exist, as an attempt use the client for v7 with the server for v7, while having v8 installed. That didn’t work, though I didn’t exhaustively pursue the workarounds: didn’t ask Dorico to rebuild the VST3 cache and I didn’t play around with v8’s network settings in preferences.
Fortunately, Vienna Assistant allows my system to cleanly switch back and forth between having VE Pro 8 and VE Pro 7 installed.
It would be handy if versions 7 and 8 could be installed side by side, especially while version 8 is still brand new. Might also be helpful for navigating version 7 server projects to version 8.
There’s a new setting in VEP 8: “Accept new connections”. Make sure that’s checked. The port is correct as VEP 8 is listening on 6473 on my windows server (but I’ve never seen the client display it). To test the firewall, you can simply disable it for the test then reenable it. If the test is successful, make the granular port adjustment.
that’s at least more encouraging. Unsure whether I should upgrade. I’m assuming that every Dorico project using it will need to be reconfigured as presumably it will not automatically be able to update the Endpoints - at least when I upgraded Kontakt it was always this problem (unlike with Cubase which can migrate Kontakt automatically)
