"Vintage Plate": My new SMuFL Font for Dorico

Hi,

I am pleased to announce the release of my latest engraver font, Vintage Plate, which features three styles: Standard, Heavy, and Lighter. These styles accurately capture the vintage aesthetic of smooth music notation.

Thanks @wing!

Just a heads up, I’ve changed the default text font to the Old Music Standard font and another enhanced version of the same text font can be found here.

This is my favourite design so far—extremely elegant and thoughtfully crafted. It offers three weights at a very reasonable cost, making it highly versatile. The lighter versions are perfect for chamber music, providing clarity without overwhelming the page, while the bolder weight enhances legibility in orchestral scores. The details are carefully refined; I’m especially impressed by the treble clef, flag shapes, accidentals, and tuplet numerals, all of which feel meticulously balanced. Dynamics are well-proportioned and integrate very well into the overall design. It is also suitable for a wide variety of music. Highly recommended!

Hi @teemu.s.heinonen

I’m delighted you enjoyed Vintage Plate and appreciate your kind review. For context, the inspiration for Vintage Plate came from vintage Henle and Peters excerpts. While the final font doesn’t directly replicate their appearance, those scores sparked the initial concept, guiding its development.
