Virtual Keyboard not working C elements 8

Here’s my problem:

I open Halion Sonic (or any other vst synth) in an instrument track; The keyboard on the VSTi works fine and the sound comes out of my speakers.

I activate the virtual keyboard…=no sound. What did I (or didn’t I) do ??

Plus, The keyboard I use as a midi controller stopped working as well!! It worked before and it’s plugged directly into usb port on computer.

Help please!

do you have the red record arm button “armed” on the track and the output set to the vsti?
set the input to ALL MIDI and all should work

set the input to ALL MIDI (YES) and all should work

hit F11 make sure you have a vsti loaded in the “rack instruments” not “track instruments” (choose “create a midi track” if you havent already added one in the project). the vsti will then appear as a choice in the output routing selection box directly underneath the input routing selection box (all midi inputs) on your midi track in the track inspector area on the left.

make sure MIDI thru is active in your preferences.
