It’s very useful sometimes to be able to see the layers when editing, but I also want them muted.
A good example is cut-extracting a complicated unwanted noise to a different layer piece by piece, I want to mute cut-extractions layer but still see it while I chip away at the keeper source material so I can use the cut extractions for visual reference, but only hear the gradually improving result.
