I’d like to add a vocal range on the title page of my jazz band chart. Basically I want one measure with two half notes that doesn’t appear in the vocal part, or the score. Can’t figure out how to do this. Help?
This must be possible, no?
I’ve created a font for exactly this purpose (it also has some other capabilities): Ambitus, which you can download for free at Notation Central (you may also pay for it
).
Once I create it, how do I get into into Dorico? Into a text frame, music frame, graphics frame?
A text frame would probably be easiest. Why don’t you want it to show up in the (singer’s) part? Shouldn’t they see the range that’s required from them?
Actually, I want it there also. I’ll buy it and give it a try. Thank you!
In that case, you can simply go to the part, click on the first note, press Shift-X, choose Ambitus as font (maybe enlarge it to 16 pt or something) and write the range diagram. Then go to Engrave mode and move it to the desired location in the part. That way it will only show up there but not in the score.
Each part, and the score, all have Title Pages, that have no music frames. I want to put the vocal range on those two title pages.
In that case, I guess a text frame would indeed be the best choice.
