I have a voice assignment problem. I’m using Noteperformer.
In a multi-movement piece, I have a movement with a solo cello (+ gli altri). If I enable independent playback of voices, a new channel is created for the tutti celli, and the soloist remains on the original channel (ie with a tutti sound).
I can change the sound for the original cello channel to a solo cello, and that works fine for this movement, but it means that mixer setting now applies to all the other movements.
How should I be going about this? Is there a setting which allows me to designate the newly created soloist to a newly created channel?
One could assign the solo sound to a different voice for the passage in question.
Or one could create a separate staff for the solo sound, suppress the shown solo notes in the divisi section, and then hide the extra staff that provides the solo sound for the passage.
There’s not an automatic setting, but creating an alternative voice on the topmost staff belonging to that section player (i.e. the tutti staff that becomes the solo staff at the point of the divisi) is probably how I would handle it. E.g. use up-stem voice 2 for the solo passage.
If you show voice colours, it should be relatively easy to keep track of what voice is used where.
Thanks Lillie, that works. Is there a way of seeing how things are routed, other than playing a note in a particular line and seeing which meter twitches on the NP mixer?
