I have “volume change” automation within a track written and acting properly but I find the overall level of the track needs to change. Can I do this with the channel fader somehow? i.e. add +3 db to entire track.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say: CUBASE SE3 on XP. 
Has served my purposes well, but sure I’ll need upgrade soon.
Several ways I can think of.
1: (if SX3 has the info line) switch it on, select all automation points and increase the level by 3dB in the info line.
2: put a plugin that has a gain stage in insert slot 8 and increase by 3dB
2: if you have no dynamic processing on the channel, turn up the input channel gain by 3dB
