Volume dips after export

I’m getting a few slight volume dips during playback after export of the mixdown. I don’t see anything on the waveforms. On top of that there is a bit of unwanted distortion. I read that the issue might be with some kind of interference between Control Room and output section but I’m on 14ai so I don’t have the same Control Room options. Does anybody know what’s causing this and how to solve it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
you are right, Control Room is a Pro feature only so it cannot impact your mix. Besides, it wouldn’t have because it uses a separate path independent from the mixdown.

It sounds like you have applied too much compression and limiting - I would have a look at the compressor/limiter settings. What kind of plugins do you use?

I haven’t applied anything other than chorus so there should be no limiters or compression unless I’m overlooking something.

Re-import the file into Cubase and confirm you hear the issues there so we know it’s not anything in the player software or chain.

You shouldn’t get any distortion that isn’t already audible in Cubase unless you are clipping the output or converting to another format or sample rate that can clip a file that’s already near 0db.

Thanks. I’ll check the file by re-importing it later. Maybe check for automation issues on the track? MIDI controllers appear to be a possible cause in some cases so I tried unplugging mine but it didn’t change anything.
