Volume increase and decrease not working

Hi, when editing an audio montage and increasing or decreasing the volume or when creating sound envelopes, (on WaveLab Cast),the sound stays the same. The same goes for fade in and fade out. Would anyone know why this might be happening? Thank you very much in advance!
