Hello, I see Steinberg released a couple of “classics“ plug-ins. That’s cool. But what about the best ones that they removed and have not released again? Steinberg, when are you going to restore all of these? They should’ve never been taken out in the first place. we paid for them because they were promised in your product, then you removed them. It’s not right.
Prologue
Cubase SX era
Removed
Basic virtual analog synth. Stayed around until Cubase 13, removed in Cubase 14.
Spector
Cubase SX era
Removed
Spectrum-based synth. Removed with Cubase 14.
Mystic
Cubase SX era
Removed
Comb-filter physical-modeling synth. Removed with Cubase 14.
LoopMash
Cubase 5
Removed
Loop remix instrument. Removed in Cubase 14 after years without updates.
LoopMash FX
Cubase 5
Removed
Companion effect to LoopMash. Removed along with LoopMash.
All those were developed by a third party and then licensed to Steinberg. The license ran out, and the company(s) didn’t want to update them to modern OSx (a shame; LoopMash FX was awesome).
You can still get them off of old install media or there are places that have archived them. Do a search in the forums.
Another issue is that it can be a real pain in the bum to get the presets to show as Steinberg’s presets, and preference file handling was coded after a booze-soaked holiday party and is a total mess. (But, we love them anyway)
I always wondered why the original developers just didn’t rebrand them with a different name and then release them on their own channel. LoopMash was really cool, and I’ve never found anything like it anywhere; LoopMashFX brought that into the mixer.
