… Friday? Is it you? Excellent! Because a new version 2.1.4 is online. You can download it here . You also can find a Version History there. If you found new bugs or bugs which are not fixed, please create a new thread and title it with [2.1.4].
Hi all,
Thanks for the amazing product! I don’t know if it is a bug or intentional, but in this release (2.1.4.195), pressing the escape button will shutdown/crash VST live pro 2. Instead of escaping from a dropdown menu, VST live just shuts down/crashes. But regardless of what you are doing, which screen has focus or whatever, pressing will force a close/crash.
Another thing, I would really like to be able to apply VST effects on VST instruments. So for example, I would like to be able to apply a distortion effect on top of a Yamaha piano from ‘the Grand 3’, just as I am able to apply a distortion effect on top of a guitar coming in from the audio interface.
In other words, I would like to be able to apply inserts and effect on Layers, just as is possible on Stacks (and Tracks)
A third thing, when VST live pro 2 does not have any part of its window visible on the screen (so another app has full screen), the VST instrument will quickly start clicking/popping, regardless of the ASIO buffer. When there is even the tiniest amount of app visible (see screenshot), even if there are many other programs on top of that, all works seemless.
… the escape button is attached to the “Audio Panic” action. But I agree, if a “Dropdown Menu” is visible, the escape button should close the menu instead to reset the Audio Engine.
… uff! That’s not good. Can you please have a look to the following folder
C:\Users\Your_Username\Documents\Steinberg\CrashDumps
Do you see any crash logs (*.dmp)? Can you drop them here, please?
… Select the MIXER. Any VST Instrument will have an own channel. You can load Effects to that channel.
… uff, part #2. I’ll try to get it reproduced. Strange one.
… thank you very much. We’ve found the problem. The escape buttons trigger an Audio-Engine and MIDI-Engine reset. In your case you are running MIDI Outputs and those outputs will be reseted. Here, VST Live will crash. Sorry. It’s fixed now. Please re-try with the next version.
Hi @Soundhunter ! There was a genial new feature (multi-port-selection), that was on rock and never ever seen like that in any other app like this, but there was some technical difficulty around. I guess, they pulled these versions back for now.
… yes, we removed 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 and the Multi-Port feature. It is a very complex feature. And too many side-effects and bugs have arised. We’ll disable this feature for the moment and return tomorrow with 2.1.5
… @Maarten_Mensink, I am trying to get it reproduced. But I can’t. What happens if you create a new project, select TRACKS, import an audio file and start Transport. Do you have the same problem when another application hides VST Live? Do you have any special Windows version installed? Any hint will help
Pls also let us know your OS version (are u on preview programme?), and check with other audio software (if you have) if it exposes the same behaviour, thanks!
