Just started using VST Live 2 Pro and it is pretty nice but honestly, it does feel somewhat rough around the edges. The UI and user experience is nowhere near that of Cubase, which I wish it was because I can see how useful VST Live 2 Pro can be.
The reason for my post however is that I am experiencing one issue that I cannot seem to resolve.
I got Cubase to export songs to VST Live. I can automatically create parts via the arranger track in Cubase (which is a huge time saver), but the last part of the song stretches for hundreds of bars!
I cannot cut the end part no matter what. What is weird is that if I click on the FLEXLOOP option, I can see that the last part in the song is only 2 bars, which is what it should be, but in the track view, it stretches for hundreds of bars. I could ignore it, but the problem comes when I zoom in and out of the Tracks view. As you can imagine, it sucks. Steinberg. Please fix! It would be appreciated. Thank you!
Here on the forum, developer posts one pre-release a week, so if you havenāt , try to download 2.2.63 from www.vstlive.net
I seem to remember that this is just a visual issue and has been fixed in latest pre release.
Remember that cubase is in development since decades ago, VSTLive have at most a couple of years and has been done from scratch for maximum live performance optimization ! Itās evolving at light speed week after week
Thank you for replying. I was hoping that the update would solve the issue, but it didnāt. The end part stretches for over 4000 bars. lol. I tried importing it different ways to see if that may solve the problem, but nothing changed. Steinberg please look into this. Thanks!
I tried the free month of VST Live (only a couple of evenings on it) and I too was surprised at it like the OP - I thought it would inherit tons of Cubase features but I can see its fresh code, at least for the UI. I couldnāt find simple things (the Zoom equivalent of pressing G / H on the keyboard in Cubase) via any action.. It seemed the track view was a fixed size? So I paused and didnāt buy it, I expect Iāll have the need for more live work next year and Iāll be back! Keep up the good work..
Meanwhile this isnāt Cubase. We - performing artist - donāt need an another Cubase, because we have Cubase since 1989. This app is focused on live performance instead of intensĆve editing.
Thanks for that: I probably missed a lot in my brief messaround. I couldnāt find any button function actually that did it or onscreen zoom slider, maybe I didnāt try the actual keys, on reflection. I agree, I want to be able to navigate my tracks easily, not edit them.
I was impressed with the export-from-Cubase process and I can see the Setlist functions and the iPad view will be helpful.
I was also impressed with second-load time once all my VSTs were identified. When you need to do that dreaded āsomething isnāt connecting and I donāt know whatā reboot, reloading your project that fast is nice.
Like VSTConnect before it (which I am just learning now), I think you are taking an excellent approach to a tough problem.
I dontāt want to bore you with my performing videos, but with VST Live I could boost my possibilities for my Live performances to an another level and Iām not alone with this fact here. Also doing this with reduced need for equipment and staff.
of course I donāt know your performing workflow that would allow me to suggest you specific or general things to try, look, do. But returning to the example (G/H) you can even do this additionally with your MIDI Comtroller⦠etc
The hall thing is optimised for live performance but not the āAbleton Liveā style (because for that there is Ableton) but the one weāre missing for the market.
You donāt really need it because there are buttons for that (reset- audio/midi)
Ah, its not a Cubase thing when that happens always (although Iāve had that in the past when Iāve used Cubase to host a bunch of VST tracks so I can flip between them during the performance using Channel Mute/Unmute and Volume Balancing), could be a midi controller or IO device and the faster route to reconnect is a reboot. But I appreciate the reset buttons!
Do you have any videos showing you using VST Live to perform? That would not be boring⦠(although if you are doing kinda Death Metal I might decline to turn it up⦠)
Some examples!! Lights, videos, lyrics teleprompter, backing tracks, effects automations, 6 inear mix, foh mix , everything and every band member pass thru VSTLive, no service company at all.
okay, meanwhile now Iām pretty sure after @ciro1983811 ās videos wonāt paste here my footages But I assure you if I can drive video, fx, backing tracks, DMX, teleprompts, MIDI host, audio processing front of that audience sold all 400 tickets + than additional extra chairs for premium price a week before my performance, probably VL serve your needs in your workflow
Iām not sure if thatās the same issue. Basically what is happening is that when I export from Cubase (MIDI track, some audio tracks, and an arranger track) and import a project into VST Live, the parts that are automatically created by the arranger track in Cubase (by ticking the create triggers option in the VAT Live import window) are all totally fine, aside from the last part. Again, as I was saying when selecting the FLEXLOOP option in VST Live, it shows the correct number of bars in the Song and parts window, but in the TRACKS view, it shows the last part stretch out for more than 4000 bars! I canāt delete that part. Even if I cut the last part at the end of the song, I still cannot delete the over 4000 bars at the end of the song. What is going on here?
