Here’s something that I’ve run into that I don’t understand:
- I exported a bunch of songs from Cubase using the VST Live Export option. I then copied those complete folders onto my laptop. For the sake of this example, let’s say I put them in a folder called “E:\Cubase Exports”.
- I use the “Import Media Project” in VST Live to bring the songs into VST Live. I set them all up with the appropriate parts (Intro, Verse 1, Chorus 1, etc)
- Then I save the songs, using the VST Live “Save Song” feature, into individual folders for each song, such as E:\VST Live\Songs\songtitle
- Then, I move or delete the original “E:\Cubase Exports” folder as I shouldn’t need it anymore-- all the songs should be saved in the VST Live song folder now.
- But, when I load any of the songs into VST Live, the audio tracks don’t appear-- the tracks all show “Media Offline” in VST Live
What I found is that if I go back & put the “Cubase Exports” file where it originally was, then the songs will load correctly in VST Live. So something is still pointing to the old folder and not being saved properly when I “Save Song” in VST Live.
From what I can tell, there are a bunch of .peak files in the original Cubase folders that are NOT getting saved to the VST Live Songs folders when I use the “Save Song” function. They’re in the Cubase Export folder but not in the VST Live Song folders. Maybe that’s what VST Live is looking for? I tried copying the .peak folders into the VST Live Song folders, but that didn’t solve the problem-- if I move the original files, the Load Song function still doesn’t work properly.
Seems to me that when you Save a Song, everything you need should go with it, right? I should be able to move or delete the original files once a song has been saved by VST Live. What am I missing?
