VST Live Pre-Releases 3.0.35 and 2.2.115 are online

Hi Friday,

New Pre-Releases version 3.0.35 and 2.2.15 are available.

We’ve added a small workflow improvements

Actions : Data2 for Out Actions

You can download them here.
The version history is available here.

Have a nice weekend,
Michael.

There is a line in history 3.0.35:
“Video | Black when starting ahead of clip”

Can unfortunately experience GREEN screen in case of “no video” is found at starting point.
Will also report another VD related to its previous thread.

Why work on any improvements and new features, when the basic uses of the program are faulty…i.e. video lag, lyrics and vst live mods nowhere near fit for use?
I keep looking at the history, to hope these are addressed.

This question has been asked and answered several times, and it’s unlikely anyone should have to ask it again every week. If I find it, I’ll provide a link, but you can also use the search button yourself - it’s a basic feature on the forum.

But every update has new features and developments, when the main bugs are not sorted…I know you´re happy with the multiple features in your useage, and the mission statements… but the basic stuff should be sorted 1st, and no new features should be causing other features to fail?
Also, even though it may have been addressed before, it definitely need pointing out…a lot

Hi, @tunecreators,

The philosophy behind VST Live development is to stay close to the community. That’s why we provide frequent pre-releases every Friday, which can include both bug fixes and workflow improvements.

I understand where you’re coming from. Stability and core functionality are critical, especially in a live environment.

To give some context: the last 10 pre-releases included

  • 6 workflow improvements / features
  • 40 bug fixes

Fixes and improvements vary a lot in complexity - some take hours, others take days. We continuously evaluate what to prioritize next, aiming for a balance between stability and usability.

That said, crash reports and critical bugs are always our top priority. When something severe comes up, we immediately shift focus to address it.

Our daily work is heavily focused on fixing bugs, even if that’s not always as visible as new features. Still, we occasionally include improvements to keep the workflow evolving and useful.

That’s a fair point. At the same time, development doesn’t always work step by step like that — sometimes we can add improvements without getting in the way of ongoing bug fixes.

We also depend on your feedback so we don’t miss anything important. If you feel something hasn’t got enough attention, please bump it in the forum so we can take another look.

Thanks for bringing this up, I appreciate the discussion.

Have a nice day,
Michael

Wow! I didn’t expect that improvement so quickly! Thank you so much!

I’ll be as short as possible

Yes, I’m happy with the basic features that allow me to perform my songs live. I wonder that the team decided to include whole stage core functionality almost at once on the very beginning. I understand them because Steinberg company didn’t have filled this area. So not to be too late they made huge leap. As a programmer I understand why there are still lot of work to reach the perfection. As a user I understand you, because you want the perfection right now and you call your needs the basic, just like any of us

In my understanding additional devices that extends software functionality are additional features, not the basic. So I just disagree with term “basic” in your message.

Some other software and their developers spent decades to get closer to such comprehensive functionality.

Sure! But…

  • The C++ programming language wasn’t made by VST Live team.

  • The programming language itself can cause many little complications that summarily can cause bugs that are not noticeable at the time they appear. Once noticed, reported and reproducible, the team never will leave it without attention. I’m sure.

  • Also fixing any error can actually cause other errors that are not noticeable at that moment. Thanks to complexity of programming language and the function libraries used.

  • Do you remember how long it took to finish video export in Cubase? Some filmmusic makers would call it basic functionality.

  • Without C++ and software made with it you probably would still work in command line console made with C and function libraries made with Assembler. I remmeber the StreamTracker in DOS, that allowed to compose first songs using avalable 4 tracks, the file extension was ST3 and STM. The memory of computer was 640 kilobytes. The youth!

  • Any other programming language could make twice as more problems.

Some can say perfection isn’t possible. So let’s make the way to it perfect!

Dear developers? why have you been ignoring the problems of DMX ARTNET and the DMX engine in general for a long time? I have already repeatedly reminded you of the existing problem, attached the project, and fully described the problem! But do you keep making small changes while ignoring larger problems? @Spork

Its a great program, I just want the “basic” mods app and lyrics to work. a “basic” selling point. All the video director stuff is great, but ott for me, especially as it is making just a single video go out of sync, since updating it.
I keep pointing it out… how can you sell it if the core elements do not work?

I confirm - there is a little off-sync and while developers find the way to correct it, make an offset for your video - 00:00:00:06. It works for me. 30fps video 3 minutes long in 1080p rendered in Vegas Pro 23. Perfectly in sync. With that offset I move my video to the 2nd minute of the project and it is in sync on 5th minute. Some 2-4 frames delay that was also in start of video isn’t signifficant for human eye (because with 00:00:00:06 for offset you cannot hit the correct position)

Here is the off-sync on 5th minute using offset (bright numbers are on video rendered in Vegas):

Don’t ask why they added “offset”. It’s a standard to give you maximum control. Use it!

I think we waste enough time putting it in sync in the 1st place… then if it is fixed, go back and undo this?
No one should have to do this…not only that, the mental health issues, when it goes out of sync, and we have no idea why, is momentous!!

Hi @Spork @musicullum ,in this last update something changed in video handling:

  • two video tracks routed to same video1 out
  • when a video clip on one of the tracks end, a ghost image remain in the video out over the second track playing.
  • Even when the video clip ends with fade out, last frame remain visible.

Bakc to .34 for me.

cheers, Ciro.

will check!

Correct, will be fixed with the next update.
