VST Live Pro 2.2.36: MIDI Notes Not Detected

Hello, I installed VST Live Pro 2 version 2.2.36, upgrading from 2.2.32. However, I encountered issues with the MIDI tracks I use to control video mapping with Grand VJ on the same machine. Previously, they worked fine, but now, when I start a song, especially the first MIDI notes are not detected (as observed in MIDI Monitor).

Additionally, I noticed that if I move the track from 0.1.1.1 to 0.1.2.0, the notes are recognized, but if I stop and restart the track, they might not be detected again. So far, I have only tested the MIDI tracks used for video mapping and not the others, such as those for lights, pedalboards, effects, etc. This issue is particularly critical because I need to use the project next Saturday, and as it stands, I wouldn’t be able to.

Hi @Gianluca_D,

I guess you have a complex project and it’s not easy to share that with us? Maybe it’s possible to create a simple project which shows the problem? Can you share that one with us?

Thank you,
Michael.

Maybe I have figured out the cause: within the MIDI track, I moved each MIDI event one by one, aligning them to the nearest grid bar (setting it to 1/16). This way, during playback, they activate correctly, and when I stop, they don’t remain active. Previously, they wouldn’t activate, and when they did, they stayed active even after stopping.

Furthermore, I noticed that the G8 note (127) is not detected by the Midi Monitor. It seems that it does not activate, unlike all the other notes. I believe this detail is crucial for solving the issue. Could you kindly check this before I send you the project?

Hello, have you had a chance to check?

There is a quantize option for that too

Cannot confirm:

This is what I see: G8 doesn’t appear. I also tried it with the latest release (2.2.44)

Tried to recreate your case as faithfully as possible, no such problems.
Also tried with Midi Editor opened, same result.
Not denying that the case exists, but what can it be that is different?
It would be easier if you could send a simple project showing the issue. If that’s ok with you, use “Save Archive” so we get the MIDI data as well.

The problem does not occur with MIDI tracks in general.

It does occur with Layers, though. And Gianluca_D gave us a project, and there it became obvious that the MIDI track is routed through a (global) Layer.

And Layers actually do have that problem. The reason is that recently somebody asked for different handling of Layer Zones, such that it should not include the rightmost boarder note. So we did, but the trouble is that the right handle can only be dragged up to 127 - so that note got excluded. Nobody uses MIDI Note 127…

Whatever, fixed with the next version, thanks a lot for helping to find out.
