I recognized today, that the volume configuration for a Layer was switched in VST live to 0 volume (= not played anymore). This configuration change was done in parallel when I played in the same song. When I started to play this song in the first minutes the volume for this layer was activated and I could clearly hear what I played.
I did not touched my mouse or notebook at this time, only music keyboard keys.
Does anyone have an idea which could happen to cause this volume modification?
I am playing via a midi keyobard Auturia Essential 88.
On the keyboard not assignments are connected to the volume parameter.
That means if I change any switched on the keyboard nothing happens.
Also the mouse-over configuration changes are deactivated.
I also recognized comparable situations within other songs but unfortunately I am not able to locate what / how caused this volume change. Of course I am not interested in this volume change.
It would be great if it would be possible to activate a “debug mode” for VST live to be able to trace back what has been changed by what trigger (e.g. midi change, GUI value change, etc.).
I was lucky to play this song when the volume for this sound was activated / played. Only after minutes of playing it seems that this volume setting was changes somehow.
My VST live project file has currently 185 songs but I hope that this should not be relevant for this issue.
You may test to reset all of those categories (but don’t save, make a copy of your project beforehand) to see if anything is programmed that does that.
Also if your keyboard sends Controller #7 (volume) it could change that. Try to block that from the cc table. Watch the Midi Monitor on the layer input…narrow the cause, remove everything except the Layer in question, is it still failing? Save the Song or even just the Part, create new project and test just that Layer. You have a lot of Songs and possibly hidden resources that could do stuff in the background. Again, narrow, exclude everything but the probelamtic component. VST Live does not change Layer volume unless beeing told to.
Thank you @musicullum for your fast and extremly helpful feedback.
I recognized that I had in my VST project a configuration which was connected to Midi programm changes with volume changes. It seems that this was the issue this special topic.
Is already have an idea how this “gost configuration” maybe came into my VST project.
I tried to activate the midi panic mode via touch screen an pressed with my fingers the “learn icon” button next to the “panic icon”. Then I did not recognized what happend because for me this changed GUI of VST live in the “learning mode” was not self-explaining. I assume that at this point the midi-based volume-routing was created by an accident. Therefor I would suggest to improve the “learn-mode” and integrate a “label” in VST live which help the user to understand if the “lern-mode” was activated by accident.
Now I have no other midi configurations except the switching of songs based on my external setlist tool.
