VST Plug In Window Question

Hi Folks

A friend of mine asked me why Dorico can’t “find” his VSTs, and in looking on my set up (silicon mac sonoma; dorico pro 5.1…81.2225), I noticed a discrepancy between the Dorico documentation and what I see.

The screen shots show the discrepancy: the documentation states that I should see blocked plug ins and allowed plug ins in Preferences - Vst Plug ins; …my system does not have this…

While my set works fine, I m wondering why the discrepancy between the documentation and my set up.

Thanks!

See the “Note”, which explains it.

VST2 plug-ins are very old and deprecated in favour of VST3 plug-ins.

Steinberg took the opportunity to remove support for VST2 plug-ins in Apple Silicon, since it was a fresh architecture with only newly-compiled apps. (No one is re-compiling VST2 plug-ins for Apple Silicon. Well…, almost no one.)

They remain on Windows, on Mac Intel, and if you run Dorico in Rosetta.

But they will be excluded from Windows in due course, too.

well, I saw that note…but I didn’t read it the same way you did…
