This is harder to explain than it actually is. If you load a VST plugin, then hit PREVIEW, then try to adjust the plugin, the plugin’s UI doesn’t update in real time.

That’s so true and still open. The VST-interface of SL is, imho, suboptimal at best.
The workflow with a preview is old-fashioned. VST-plugins should work flawlessly and all other functions of SL should be available during playback.
It seems like there are tons of old codelines in the program, that can not be refited so easily. I mentioned this some years ago and still claim on that, until proven otherwise.
But, of course, there has been a time, where old code was new, though… but if more and more features get implemented, there comes another time, when the code is old and inadequately for the new requirements. This is completely normal and nothing to worry about.
