VST Sound Archive Content Update Question

Greetings

I have just noticed there are 126 VST files and presets in my recycle bin.

Question : Would these files have been put there by Steinberg when processing updating sound file content? Is this normal? Seems I saw something about this issue in a previous Steinberg Forum Summary but I,m unable to locate it.

The file size of the new files found in the Steinberg VST Sound archive are all 3 KB as compared to the recycle bin files.

If Steinberg is replacing existant files to conserve file size - I’m Ok with that.

But if that is not what is happenning… then I can only reason those files may have been placed there whenever I download content updates from the Download assistant.

I’ve have continuing problems of losing sound files after their initial download. They disappear one by one when the download assistant is verifying the files - they just vanish. I would be left to download again but they would remain after the second download.

I had never thought at the time to verify in the recycle bin to see if they would be there. I sure will the next time. I had started a thread some time ago concerning this disappearance of files and so far no solution.

Your thoughts?

They were moved when you updated certain libraries.

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Content\VST Sound\

are there files there? they should be bigger. I am just thinking out loud here but I would assume those files you are looking at is a way to keep track of which update you have for when there is a new update. after all the folder is called VST Sound updates

These files are adding information about the sound library to the MediaBay. They don’t include any sound as such, just meta information.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I have a couple of questions… 1)

Dilemma… What should I do with the files in the Recycle Bin?

If I chose to restore the file - I am asked to chose between which file to keep. In the case of the highlighted entries - Minimal Sessions, below - I can’t find that sound file at all.

I’m concerned that once I delete these files I may be SOL.
