There are two features that I would wish for in a new VST version:

  • ARA like features to access the complete audio stream of a track
  • “sweet-spot” info where plugin developers can enter for which sweet spot their plugins are optimized, with all this modeled plugins its hard to keep track
  • input and output gain meters and controls as a standard for all plugins
    (maybe even visualizing if the input volume is within the sweet-spot of the plugin and the)

Similarly, the ability for a VSTi to read-ahead and know what MIDI data is on an Instrument track so it can do predictive legato transitions or sample/articulation selection, etc.
