I previously wrote in another topic about VSTLive V3 crashing but the crash dumps got lost. I’ve now been testing with the same setup and VSTlive crashes randomly at different places/ events during normal show playback. Sometimes I can play the show multiple times without a problem and other times it crashes twice within the same go. Attached are 4 dumps that all show the same scenario that would point to a memory allocation / accessing bug.
V2 did not crash on this setup (intel MacBook Pro, MacOS 15, dedicated for gigs) but V3 is currently too unreliable for me to use.
You are using 3.0.50, and that version has a bug related to “audio files and sample rate conversion”. Please install the latest Pre-Release, 3.0.59, and let us know if it’s working fine.
Thank you. Do you have a track called "Our Love Ref "? How many audio files are running on the track? Is is possible that you can give us access to them? Maybe a PM?
“Our Love” is one the songs and that is one of the tracks. It’s actually a reference track and muted during a gig, but of course playing along thru the song. And it’s the first / top most audio track.. On this project there are only 2 audio tracks, that mentioned reference track and the “real” one with backing tracks and click. I can get you the files, probably tomorrow.
VSTLive is running at 48kHz as that is the native sample rate of my mixer that is the audio interface during a gig. And yes, these audio files in this project are 44.1.
I’ve never touched the “Sample Rate Conversion” button, it is “performance” currently. I assume that is the default?
Some additional info, based on your questions, I’m now running a new version of the show as a test where there are more audio tracks but all are 48k wav. Will see if that makes a difference. Both versions have run multiple gigs on VSTLive V2 without this crash -issue.
that’s correct and a good choice in your case. As Micha pointed out, it would be good if you could send us the audio file in question, or even better a project with that or a similar file on a track if it exposes the problem. The crashlog indicates a problem with that file.
Agree that it’s not optimal to have this mixed mode. This is why my new project has new audio with 48k wav -files.
But did not think this would be an issue on V3 since it hasn’t been on V2. And having that Sample Conversion Mode -would indicate that it is (still) supported to do this. Also to note that the crash has happened on different songs every time, so it’s not specific to a this exact song / track. Just the same project.
For anybody interested, I’ve played the fresh new version of the show with only 48kHz wav files 10+ times in past couple of days without VSTLive crashing.
I’ve sent the (old) project and mentioned audio files to Spork.
Tried hard but no way to reproduce it here. The crashlog indicates a negative number where there should not be one, we check that now and that should prevent the crash from the next version on. However it remains unclear what exactly happens on your system, we tried on multiple systems and no such problem here. But thanks a lot for the files and your help!
