just recently downloaded cubase pro 13 and some of my instrument vsts are not working, as well as some other vsts. They’re showing up in the vst manager but as fx, and the ones that are fx cant be used at all. I just recently switched from reaper to cubase. no issues with vsts on reaper.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Which instruments exactly do are you referring to, please?
Hello Martin, the instruments in question that are not working are Neural DSP amp sim, GGD contender series cab sim, Joey sturgis EQ, Joey sturgis tominator. I’m just starting out again so I don’t have many. I do however have GGD invasion (drum sim) that runs through kontakt 7, which does show up as a VST instrument. The others just show up as FX. They’re all in there proper folder marked as VST3. I’m sure I’m missing something simple. Just not sure what. Thank you for the help!
Your assumption is correct. All your listed VSTs are indeed audio effects rather than instruments. Cubase just categorizes them correctly.
Effects can only be used in VST effect slots. Instruments can only be used by either designating an Instrument Track with one of them or by loading them into the Instruments Rack (by default F11 key).
In short: This is nothing to worry about. This is how Cubase works.
I appreciate the help. So now I have my neural dsp plugin loaded as Fx channel but I’m getting no sound. Do I have to create a new track and send it to that fx channel?
You just have to drop your amp sim into one of the insert slots on your track. Click on the insert slot and you’ll get a drop down menu of your fx plugins. Click on the one you want and the GUI will open.
Ok I got it working now. Appreciate the help guys!
