WAV vs ACID files - pros/cons?

I have a lot of duplicate samples where one is WAV and one is ACID format.

I know ACID files have meta information like key and slice points encoded in them, but in Cubase, is there any benefit from choosing it over a standard WAV using musical mode which automatically time stretches to project BPM and shows slice points?

On another note, (no pun intended), is there anyway to extract the key information from an ACID loop to populate Cubase’s MediaBay metadata? I suspect not, but that would actually be a very cool feature Steinberg could implement.

I like the metadata feature of MediaBay but short of using it to rank files I find it far too time consuming to populate other fields. Key is the one I’d want most though.
