When I record a signal that has been run through an optical compressor/limiter the wave shows to be compressed only on the bottom of the top wave and the top of the bottom wave. I thought both sides compress. What gives? 
What is the plugin, how are you going about using it? detail!
I figured it out. It was not enough weight on the needle of the turntable. It had nothing to do with the compressor.
