Wavelab 12: Inconsistent playback level when using Plugin Envelopes

When I make use of Plugin Envelopes (e.g. Frequency parameter of the Steinberg Plugin, well…“Frequency”), the playback level varies greatly from one run to the next. The level reaches the same values in a round robin fashion. After restarting Wavelab or the project, the number of rounds and the specific values are different. This happens on both machines, PC and Mac.

Known issue, any ideas?

So, again, instead of getting work done, I keep investigating bugs. Being forced to do this all the time kills all motivation and creativity. It is not fun, really.

EDIT: The problem goes away when I bypass either the plugin or the envelope.

I just realized that the underlying problem seems to be less volume related and more an issue with the plugin parameter being controlled by the envelope. All works as expected only the first time after activating the envelope or the plugin. On each successive pass, the high frequencies get cut right from the start. Hence the reduced overall volume, I guess. Disturbingly, according to the spectrum view, the low frequency content also changes with each (in this exapmle, second) run. On the first runs in the video, the envelope is off, from the fifth it is activated.

I’m sorry I can’t provide videos with sound. I haven’t figured out yet how to get OBS to capture sound from WL.
