Wavelab 13.0.10 Crashes during start-up

Wavelab 13.0.10 crashes during start-up. I have tried to find out if it’s a plugin causing it. I have checked AI (Mistral), which suggested I could use “Tracer” to find which plugin could be problematic. But Tracer doesn’t seem to work? I have tried to remove the latest added plugins, but that didn’t change anything, crashing persists.

I’m in the middle of a project, so need some help on this!?

You could try to back up the preference folder and then clear it. Also the cache folder and see if it will start.

Try do delete this file:

Windows:
C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\WaveLab Pro 13\Preferences\General.dat

or

Mac:
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/WaveLab Pro 13/Preferences/General.dat

Thanks for the suggestion (had a busy day so late answer). Deleted the General.dat file, didn’t change anything. Crashing persists :frowning:

Do you have a crash log?
Are you Mac or Windows?

On Mac:
Open
• Finder > Go > Application > Utilities > Console.app
• Then see “Crash Logs” on the left side.
• Right click on the WaveLab crash entry, and choose “Reveal in Finder”.
• Then send me that file.

On Windows, Windows stores the crash dumps at this location:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps

I have a long list of crash dumps (I’m on Windows 10). I Tried to upload just one but the file was too big. Where exactly should I send it to? And will one of them do?

PS: I’m busy most of the day, but back in the afternoon.

Thanks for your suggestion Puli. I tried to clear the preference folder (back-upped). But I’m uncertain what consequences there could be. Anyhow it didn’t help. Haven’t cleared the cache folder. I’m waiting for next step from PG.

Check my previous message. I haven’t received a crash-dump yet.

Oh I did check your message, maybe you didn’t get mine. The latest crash dump file is over 30 MB so it can’t be uploaded here. How exactly should I send it..?

Didn’t you see my Private Message?

Not I did not - wasn’t aware of it. Will send files just now.

Thanks!

From your two crash downs, only one “speaks”.
And it tells that a crash happens inside a plugin called:
soothe3 b4

Does that tell you something?

It tells me that Soothe 3 is coming and it’s not as WaveLab friendly as Soothe 2 and Soothe original have been.

Hopefully they can get it sorted before the official release.

I have now removed the plugin, but it still crashes. I have just sent the latest crash dump file.

PS: I’m off-line just around two hours from now, but hope there is good news when I return.

Unfortunately this does not Help.

If you start WaveLab while pressing the Control key, do you reach the startup assistant window?

Yes I do!

And then you crash? Even if you select this?

I can create an empty project without any problems.

Therefore, when does the problem happen?..

I usually reopen a full project all the panes of different montages and wave-files contained in the project. It’s the way my different work is organized so to say.

But I tried just to open a single montage - a recent back-up of the montage I am working on at the moment, including all plugins, groups and edits. Then it crashed again.
