Wavelab 13 Render bug

When I’ve been rendering a montage, in WL13, one plugin (Kotelnikov) which was on every track, had the “delta” button engage upon render. I would go back in, disengage the button, render again, same issue. I tried rendering just those 2 titles one at a time that had the issue, it would still engage. Realtime render, same thing. The only way I got it to not do it was to slightly change another parameter of the plugin, and save that as a preset.

This really scares me….like are other plugin parameters being changed in my offline render?? I think I will have to go back to 12 for all stereo work until I’m sure this bug is fixed.

Before rendering, a copy of the plugin parameters is performed by WaveLab. Your observations induce me to think that, for this particular plugin, this does not work properly, and you should report it to Tokyo Dawn, specifying your exact procedure.

When you change that parameter and close the plugin window … when you open the plugin window again (before rendering) are the parameters still correct?

I ask this because I have also had a couple of instances in WL13 where the parameters of a very well coded limiter have changed in that scenario. That plugin has worked correctly to this point across WL versions going back to at least 9.5. I put this down to a random ‘sticky’ mouse drag on my part or something but seeing you situation maybe not.

When you change that parameter and close the plugin window … when you open the plugin window again (before rendering) are the parameters still correct?

I would open the plugin post render, and sometimes the button would be engaged (incorrect position), and other times I would open it and it would be disengaged, yet would still render as if engaged. It’s the delta button, so it’s super obvious….who knows what more subtle stuff could be rendering incorrectly. But no, if I checked it right before render, it would be correct- then render incorrectly.

In general I haven’t experienced this but the other day upon reopening a montage my Pro-L2 threshold was unexpectedly 0dB (doing nothing) instead of around 3dB where I normally have it.

I had chalked it up to accidentally scrolling the mouse wheel over it and setting it down to 0dB but now I also wonder.

One thing that may have been forgotten about is that for WaveLab 12, there is a “Null Test Track” which allows you to bring in the rendered version to your source montage and compare the playback to the render to see if any plugins are misbehaving.

I will keep an eye on this more closely now.

Ah that’s good to know, thanks Justin.

I just filed a bug report with Tokyo Dawn, and it reminded me that I also tried to render in real time, and it still kept activating the delta button– only on those two tracks though, even though all had the plugin in a clip slot. The only way I got those two tracks to render was to do them individually instead of as a batch of the whole montage.

PG, has the way this works changed from Wavelab 12? I never had this issue, and used this plugin on most projects in 12 as well.

No, this has not changed.
