Wavelab 13 while opening it loads the mastersection plugins and crashes

Hello all,

I had a mastersection with loaded plugins. After closing Wavelab and opening it again, it startet loading again the mastersection with the last used plugins and it crashed everytime i opened Wavelab.

If one plugin is making this crash and you want to start Wavelab with an empty mastersection, follow this step under windows 11 or 10.

  1. Windows Key + R opens the windows to execute commands

  1. Enter %appdata% and push Enter Key

  2. Go to the following path

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\WaveLab Pro 13\Cache

  1. Search for the file master_section.dat and rename it as follows: master_section.dat.old . If you can’t see the .dat extension, then you will have to disable

In the foldersettings “show file extensions”

After this, you can open Wavelab without a crash and load plugin per plugin and see which one makes Wavelab crashing.

Featurerequest to Steinberg:

It would be nice to have a troubleshooting tool which will do this for you instead using the windows explorer. Maybee build a troubleshooter APP to activate debugging and maybee also a feature which shows which plugin makes Wavelab crashing and also a feature where you can rename this file.
