I am trying to transfer audio that I’m playing in my Macbook air m1. In the preference section in audio connections then in recording audio, the left is unused and the right is in1. The playback section output is out 1 and out 2. When I change the method in recording from mono to stereo, it automatically changes to mono and it will only record in mono. Am I missing a particular step? I really need a stereo file and not mono. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I’ve been trying the suggestions and on my system it, after choosing stereo, among clicking back to it, it returns to mono. The screenshot below shows the mono recording. I have selected the stereo, but it always reverts back to mono.
