I’m using some sample based instruments by Waves Audio (newest version V16 of Bass Fingers, Bass Slapper, Clavinet, Electric 200 Piano, Electric Grand 80 Piano) on my Mac mini M4 running Sequoia 15.7.4. The standalone versions are running fine, but in Cubase 14 and Cubase 15 their VST3 Plugins fail with “Error while loading sample library”.
The support of Waves Audio couldn’t help me and all attempts to fix this failed so far.
Does anybody out there run the same combination (macOS 15.7.4 and Waves V16) and can confirm that this is working on their Mac?
Any other advise you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have exactly the same problem with the waves instruments. I have C15 Pro and Windows 11. The error I have known of a long time at least 5 years now…
I had a long bug testing session with waves 5 years ago, and they helped me find out about the problem. They don’t fix it!
The workaround to do, to get the samples loaded, is to wake up your Waves Instrument in a project alone. I have a template for wakeup Bass Fingers and that is alone in the project. After that you can close that wakeup project and then get it to load the sample in the other project you have with the instrument!
You must completely close cubase and start the wakeup project first, then run your real work project…
I think Steinberg should declare the Waves instruments as malfunctioning, cubase test the plugins and blacklists bad plugins and should be doing it to the waves ones. Then perhaps Waves would care!!
Waves Audio investigated the issue with their sample-based instruments via a remote session on my Mac. At first, support couldn’t find anything wrong. They then pulled some log files. Later, they reported that there might be a conflict with the RePitch plugin from Synchro Arts. I removed RePitch as a test, and sure enough, the samples loaded perfectly again.
Waves support then promised me a solution: “We are working on a fix for this issue and will let you know as soon as we have new information.”
