Hi all.
I have seen older threads on this… I’ve never had the problem
Since updating to 15.3 (possibly a coincidence) projects are taking a LONG time to load and I am getting this:-
and eventually this:-
and, well the waves plugins are seen in the inserts, like this:-
Have ran the plug-in manager (multiple times) tried reinstalling Waves Central… nothing… and everything is really slow… nothing has been moved…
Cubase Pro 15, Windows 10, system been solid for years!
Any help appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.
Make sure the plugins aren’t blacklisted and your Waves licensing is up to date.
Also in Waves Central → Settings:
- -> Clear Central Cache
- -> Complete Waves Cleanup
I remember, it solved similar problems for me with Waves Shell already.
If that does not help
Waves Central → Settings → Repair
Hi Nick !
Funny to bump into you on the Steinberg forum after seeing you and Francis live so many times !
It seems your version of the Waves files are obsolete. You need to do a complete wipe out of the Waves stuff on your pc, including the hidden stuff in Program files, Program Data, etc.. Otherwise the reinstall does not replace everything.
Also you may have to check your licenses, some of your older Waves plugins (eg v14 and under) may not work well with Cubase 15. That’s what I was told by Waves support when I had issues with my Waves plugins.
Here’s the process, but hit me up if you got issues I’ll help you out :
First, uninstall:
- Launch Waves Central.
- Go to the Settings page in the bottom left corner.
- Under Maintenance, look for Uninstall and click the drop-down menu.
- Checkmark all the available version entries and click Uninstall.
- Quit Waves Central.
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete the Waves folder.
- Press [Win key]+R, type %AppData% and hit Enter.
- In the Roaming folder that shows, drag the Waves Audio folder to your desktop.
- Press [Win key]+R, type %LocalAppData% and hit Enter. In the window that shows, delete the Waves Audio folder.
- Press [Win key]+R, type %ProgramData% and hit Enter. In the window that shows, delete the Waves Audio folder.
- Go to C:\Program Files\Waves Central - run the Uninstall Waves Central.exe file.
- Delete the Waves Central folder in C:\Program Files
- Delete any WaveShell files you find in the following locations (if exist):
- C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-ins
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
- C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ DigiDesign\DAE\Plug-Ins
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\WPAPI
Now, reinstall. If possible, don’t use a VPN.
- Download and Install the latest version of Waves Central
- Launch Waves Central: via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > All Programs > Waves Central.
- Click on the Install Products page.
- Select the My Products tab to view the products for which you have a license for.
- Select the products you wish to install from the list and review the selection in the Summary section.
- Click on the Install button.
Antoine
Thanks Antoine, great to hear from you!!! Thanks for such a detailed response!!
I am working through this, though I keep getting this when trying to delete…
even though I don’t have a program open using Waves…
Hi Nick !
Your PC might be running the Waves server even though Cubase is closed.
Open the Task Manager (shortcut CTRL SHIFT ESC), close Waves Central if running, try deleting the stuff again. If still getting the pop up box check in Task Manager if there are other processes that are from Waves or Cubase, if there are, just right click and end task, that should do it.
Then make sure you fully delete all the stuff as per my previous message, then restart the pc, then reinstall everything from the latest version of Waves Central from their site.
Then you should be good, but do check your licenses, under v14 may not work well with Cubase 15.
You can decide to reinstall all then check inside Cubase, or to go one by one, also in the process deciding if you really need all the plugins.
And if you get trouble with some of them hit me up I will give you my favourite alternatives, paid or free.
I had the same problem while running a VPN!
It worked normally without the VPN.
I suspect the WAVES plugins want to “phone home” and don’t play nice with the VPN…
You can still run older versions, too. Since Waves is very much interested to get people into their subscription program you have to jump through a lot of hoops. One of the reasons why many people have abandoned Waves over the years, same old story.
Basically, you would have to start with an older Waves Central installer (ask support which particular installer is needed for a certain plugin/version), install the plugin, delete this installer, download the next generation installer, and so on. This way you can still work with versions that have basically not changed at all apart from being renamed with a new version number. Otherwise, they would only be accesible via subscription model after a while.
You have to decide for yourself if it’s worth going through the trouble. I am considering to let go of my Waves plugins all together. They should know better after the complete and utter desaster with the forced subscription model a couple of years ago…
I have the same issue, the lost waveshell thing happens after I close a project, but restarting Cubase does the trick for now. still mildly annoyed each time I have to do this
