Hi,
I’m currently using Dorico Pro 6.2.30 and when I created a group in Setup Mode for two mallet percussion instruments (Glock and Chimes), the bracket occurs on the first page and the subsequent pages of the score just fine.
However, when I created another group for Snare Drum and Bass Drum, the bracket for the group name is missing only on the first page of the score, but the remaining pages of the score have the bracket. I want the bracket to be on the first page of the score so the conductor can see it! Any suggestions on how I can make this happen?
First page of score (above) - As you can see, no bracket on “Perc. I”
Second page of score (above) - Bracket is fine for “Perc. 1” (I want the same thing to be on the first page of my score)

Hi @Matt427, I am not able to replicate your issue.
Edit: now I was able to reproduce the issue: your Perc 1 name ist too long for that particular staves distance on page 1 (on page 2 the staves are more distanced, so that the bracket is not loosen).
Dorico provides also a Short name for Player Group Labels (right click on the group name in Setup mode, and you can reach the renaming dialogue), so he can use the short name in case there is not enough space for the long name; and so the bracket is maintained:
You probably used the same name for the long and short name: this makes the bracket disappear if Dorico needs to use the short name, which is actually too long for the space at disposal.
To correct this in your project you can:

set a different, shorter name for the Player Group Short name,

or in Paragraph Styles make the font size a little smaller, for the Player Group Label PS.
If this doesn’t help, can you please upload a Dorico file that shows this issue, so we can see what is going on.
Further to what @Christian_R has suggested, you could also increase the spacing between the two Perc. 1 staves. Do this in Engrave mode > Staff Spacing by selecting the square edit handle of the lower staff and moving it down a little. This will make more room for the label.
Thanks all. Increasing the spacing in Engrave Mode solved it. Although you have to check every other page, as some of the pages had the same issue of the bracket missing as was on the first page.
I’m not sure if the length of the short or long name really matters a whole lot in the group name, because “mallet percussion” is longer than “Perc. I” and the bracket was fine in that case.
Please trust me: the mallet group name is longer [but is Mallet Perc. in your example, and not Mallet Percussion], but the group is made of two 5-lines instruments (which need much more vertical space), while the drum group is made of two single line instruments (which need much more less vertical space), and also visually you can see that on page 1 the staves are narrower spaced.
As I suggested upload a Dorico file example, and we can give precise advice of what to do with the less possible number of manual intervention.
