I’ve recently encountered a problem with my Halion Sonic 7 plug-in in Cubase 14 Pro on Windows 11.
When I add the Halion plugin to a session in Cubase, the UI of the entire Windows system (both within Cubase and Explorer) freezes. I’ve done some research, and it might be related to the fact that I’m using a QHD monitor.
To unfreeze the system, the only option is to change the refresh rate to a lower one and then change it back. Halion then works fine until I relaunch Cubase.
I’ve already tried turning off HDPI within Cubase and the standalone Halion, but it didn’t work.
I should mention that I updated to Windows 11 from Windows 10 using a USB drive (not the Windows system updater), and all the drivers are fresh. This only happens with Halion.
I have an i7 10700k, 32GB RAM, and a GTX 1660 Super with the latest Nvidia Studio drivers. I’m using an 8i6 Focusrite Scarlett as an audio interface, also with the latest drivers.
Before updating from Windows 10 to 11, I wasn’t using the latest graphics drivers nor the latest Cubase 14 build, so there are a lot of variables .
Other plug-ins (Arturia, Kontakt, Serum 2, etc.) are working just fine.
thanks for the specs.
I’d have a closer look at the grapic card’s driver. Do you use the 565.90 Studio Driver for Windows 11?
Please make sure that it’s properly activated if you look at the system settings. Have you tried to reinstall it or roll back to the Win 10 studio driver?
I am using version 581.57, which is the latest release on the NVIDIA website, and I believe it is the same for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Yes, it is indeed something related to the driver, but it is strange that only Hallion is affected. Anyway, I’ll try to install a previous version once I’m in the studio.
Hi, I tried rolling back the NVIDIA drivers to previous versions, but the problem persisted. However, I found a post about the Fixed Refresh rate setting, changed it, and now everything works.
