I just opened a score I haven’t touched in a few months. I suspect it looked like this the last time I worked on it, and I have no idea how I caused this; My rehearsal marks are coming in with a tall, vertical rectangle around them. Can someone please point me to where I need to go to edit this?
Thank you, Daniel - that got me to the right place, though it had nothing to do with padding. It was the font itself; the ‘Finale Jazz’ font did me in. Changing to another font solved the issue. While I am here, I’d like to extend the scope of this thread with a new, yet related question:
Ia there a way to either modify rehearsal marks or create from scratch (or maybe this feature is already built-in) to have a rehearsal mark rectangle surrounding a text string like INTRO, VERSE, etc?
One can add a border to staff text or system text, either directly or by specifying a font that includes a border.
Yes, there is also a way to use the rehearsal letter function as well by choosing specifying a custom first character and then using the suffix box to add the rest of the letters.
This is an interesting trick (once I understood the typo(?) of “/” for “I”…).
Somebody should compile a “Tricks and Tips” book or PDF. Over time, most posts on this forum will drown in other information.

Can such a font be used in Dorico? This means that Dorico would add the first and last letter, forming the [ and ], which is not a typical ‘behaviour’ for a text field (in any program). I might have misunderstood the use of such fonts as I have not used those myself.
