I posted about my Media bay issues recently. That was on my main computer where I do ALL of my composition work in Dorico. I have an older PC with 16g RAM that has Dorico installed, but I do not use it to write anything. Yet, I’m having a similar issue on it. I see Raven, Eagle, Auron, FM, Anima-none of which I own, but don’t see-except for Etude Elements and Sonic Selection- any of the libraries I do own. I can understan having an issue on the PC I use every day for composition, but I can’t possibly have done anything to create the same issue on the other one. In the browser list there are a LOT of red keys in front of items I’ve never seen before. Again, I have not made any changes to anything-including Dorico- on this machine.**Any ideas?
Which version of Dorico did you install on that PC?
As usual, upload your diagnostics…
I’ll upload a diagnostic file. What’s so weird is that all the libraries I own-as well as many I dont-show up in the Library Manager and the Halion stand alone programs. They’re just screwy within Dorico. I have the latest version of
Dorico on both machines. They are not in anyway connected to each other. This is the diagnostic from my older machine. I’ll add one from my main computer shortly.

Thanks so much for helping.
Now a little patience is required. Hopefully @Ulf or another of the team will be able to take a look.
Patience-and gratitude- are things I have in abundance for the Dorico team and forum members-who are awesome. This problem, by the way, just started toda-on both machines. Yesterday, all was well. Odd.
Your diagnostics cover the past 10 starts, so history is captured.
Cool. When I select the Iconica, HSO, etc. Factory template, the sounds seem to load and play; when I open the ‘e’ window and select a part in the left column, every library-even the ones I don’t have- displays it ‘icon’ picture in the browser. However, if I just click on the ‘e’ and look at the browser window, I only see ALL, which, when pressed, just gives me a short list of items with red keys in front of them.
TBH the Media Bay has always been a mystery to me.
(and every time I update Dorico the download assistant struggles to update the Media Bay - which is infuriating. The good folks at Steinberg Central really need to get it sorted)
I’m obviously with you there! I did see 1 or 2 ‘cannot connect to mediabay’ windows on starting Dorico. I’m just glad they made Dorico pretty much ‘Gary-proof.’ I still have access to all my Dorico library sounds; they just take more time to find until this issue is fixed. ![]()
Me too. Unfortunately they have yet to make it Steinberg-proof.
Hi @laughreyg , the diagnostics of your main PC contain 4 crash dumps of the audio engine. 2 are caused by the TRS CRS reverb plug-in, one is in HALion Sonic and one in the mediaclient library. I’ve asked my colleague to also take a look.
Thank you so much for your patience.
Hi @laughreyg , we need some more logging files and data, please.
If you copy and paste the line
%localappdata%\Steinberg\
into the address bar of a File Explorer and then press the enter or return key, it shall take you to a place where there are 3 subfolders: MediaServices, Steinberg MediaBayServer and Steinberg MediaLib.
Those 3 folders please zip up and also send me.
Many thanks as always.
Cheers,
Ulf
Ulf,
Thanks so much for your help. Here are the folders. I can remove the TRS CRS Reverb Plugin; it does crash sometimes, and I much more often use RoomWorks SE anyway. The other behaviors are new and odd. I still can’t see how an issue I have on my main PC could possibly affect my other one.

Thanks for the data, we will take a look on Monday morning.
Sounds Good. Thanks again SO much!
Gary
Hi @laughreyg ,
I’m terribly sorry, but I forgot to mention one more folder that we need. It’s at the same location and called MediaServer. So please also zip up that one and post here, too.
Sorry again
Ulf,
Thanks Here they are. I zipped all of them up again. Thanks SO much!

Hi, Ulf
Just following up. Any insights into my Dorico media library issues yet?
Thanks!
Sorry @laughreyg , your case got a bit under, I apologize.
I need to reconfirm with Mr MediaBay, a little more patience please.
Thanks
No problem. I still have access to the sounds in my libraries, they’re just a little harder to find. I am very grateful for you and what you do for us.
