What diameter screen size is recommended by Steinberg?

Greetings all. As I just discovered through using the Omnivocal plug-in,(in Nuendo 15) I can’t fit the entire screen of data into my now ‘pathetic’, 19 inch monitors.(triple setup) I can’t see everything without having to expand the MIDI note editor into another screen and then expanding the border through the frames of the monitors and into the next screen in order to see and edit the entire picture. And wouldn’t you know it, I finally found the “Voice and Text” boxes I was so desperately searching for. (Like, days!!) I even tried going into my computer settings to see if I could reduce the screen size but the values needed would only distort the screen clarity.

So my question is, in order to utilize all the pictures of data on one screen,[OMNIVOCAL, etc.] what size monitor do I need to invest in? What size monitor will appease the Steinberg/Nuendo gods so I can actually use their DAW, minus the severe frustration?!!

I thank you in advance for your responses. J.

What resolution are your 19" monitors as full hd should be ok at 100% (anything above 100% probably not)

https://www.steinberg.net/cubase/compare-editions/

At the end of the list is a system requirement table.
Minimum resolution is 1440 x 900 with 100% UI scaling.

I guess Full-HD (1920×1080) is the universal resolution these days. 24" or 27" displays offer a good compromise between resolution and screen size, and are not too expensive.
A replacement for three 19" displays could be one 34" display with 3440 × 1440.

Just go into UI scaling in preferences and see if you can come up with a size that works for you, remembering most Steinberg plugins are now individually scalable.

Greetings guys and thank you so much for responding back to my query and for you night owls being night owls! To Mark first, the screen resolution of my antiquated 2008 NEC 19 inch monitors is 1280 X 1024. I know, this is from the time period when we all thought 500 MB hard drives were bad ass! Amazingly the monitors still work perfectly except when you have to run 2026 plug-ins through them. (Remember NEC?!)

To Steffen, I read through your expertise and came to pretty much the same conclusion of obtaining a new 34 inch display if I could just come to terms with the cost of said endeavor. They seem to range between $249.00 and $1100.00 depending on obvious feature sets and the like. (Boy, would I like to get my hands on a 34" 4K OLED Gaming monitor, but ouch on the price).

And Mr. John “Wheels” H., I assume that you are referring to the preferences in the Nuendo “Edit” column at the very bottom. I clicked on this and went down to the User Interface section and only found adjustments for color related screens and such. I hope I was in the right place. Or do you mean the preferences for the entire computer located in the “settings” section. I did try this and could not reduce the screens properly without complete distortion of images. So it looks like a possible impasse where I either have to slide the entire editor screen back and forth to get to certain parameters or open up a Kool-Aid stand and buy a new computer monitor.

If anyone has any further suggestions, I am all ears. Thank you all again for your wonderful feedback and expertise. Be well.

Have you considered getting a 4k flat screen TV instead of a monitor? At least where I live TVs are much cheaper, even if you put a 43" TV against a 28" monitor.

Edit just to say that I respect your reluctance to spend money, but using any size 1280x1024 screens nowadays for almost anything is absolutely insane in my point of view, unless you are running I don’t know, a POS, or perhaps in a ver old legacy system that won’t accept any higher resolutions.

Get a bigger resolution screen NOW! You deserve it my friend.

Agreed 1280x1024 is not supported by steinberg. Get the biggest/ highest resolution you can afford. You don’t need to go into the realms of gaming monitors with huge refresh rates though. They also come at a huge cost.

Hey guys and thank you for your responses. So the irony is that I also drive a 18.5 year old Toyota from the same time period as my monitors! And I was hoping to use my monitors until the wheels fall off!

I certainly respect both your positions on this matter and am currently looking at monitors on Amazon and elsewhere. Agreed, don’t need a gaming monitor but have always been in the habit of acquiring high end for my beloved studio. Just have to figure out what is in my best interest; Smart monitor or Smart TV? And how far down the financial rabbit hole am I going to go. I want to thank you guys again for your input and guidance and offer you free cups of Kool-Aid at my imaginary stand. Be well. J.
