What is the "Bowing mark" checkbox for in the Playing Techniques?

I think that if you check Bowing mark in the PT dialogue, it affects the vertical stacking order, prioritising the vertical upper position of that particular PT, and leaving space below it, for other PT at the same position. (if I am wrong, please someone corrects me)
