What is the status for Polyphonic Aftertouch?

Is it a dying breed or is it already extinct? Did it ever even become a thing? Is it … alive?
I don’t even remember but do you need software that supports polyphonic aftertouch or can you route it to whatever? That seems almost far fetched so I guess you need either an old hardward module or a VSTi that supports it.
What about the Note Expression in the Key Editor in Cubase. That’s native Cubase stuff and not really Polyphonic Aftertouch, right?

I have this Ensonic ASR10 I used to use much more but it’s kind of not part of the workflow in 2015 so I’m not sure what to do with it. It works great and if I sell it it would give me … breadcrumbs … and regret it for the rest of my life? I might as well keep it but … haha I don’t know? It has Polyphonic Aftertouch, though …
